Healthcare Musings

It’s been awhile since I last published.  I’ve been in “discovery” mode and over these past few years I have observed the pendulum in mainstream healthcare swing many ways and recently towards customized patient healthcare

Now, more than ever before, people are moving away from major mainstream healthcare systems and searching for a more intimate engagement with a doctor who sincerely cares (imagine this) and is committed to the Hippocratic Oath. RememberFirst Do No Harm”

I observe what is being repackaged and characterized as a “new way” of healthcare.  Is it really a new way?  Let’s look into this question a bit further.

-       Companies are now substituting technology to provide glamor and bling giving an illusion that there is suddenly a sincere interest in you and getting to the root of whatever ails you.

-       Wearable devices, apps on your ‘smart phone’, Star Trek looking walk in hubs….all claim to be the new way of deeply understanding and analyzing your health.  The main thing they have in common is the collection of your personal bio-metric data.

-       A new cancer therapy is on the market.  Step back and look at how cancer started, how much money goes into “Fighting” cancer.  Will that big cancer business ever find the “cure?”

-       IV hydration stations popping up all over towns.  How comprehensively are they evaluating your overall health to ensure there is a safe IV selected?  Since the grams are usually so low in many of the solutions, they can play it safe.

-       Businesses with a variety of health equipment like HOCOT or other expensive equipment providing treatments to people.  And extending that service to make recommendations on supplements or other healthcare therapies, even though they are not professionally trained.  Do you view a supplement that is safe to take without fully comprehending your biochemistry? What are the supplement ingredients and where are those ingredients sourced?

When I see the “new way” with technology I ponder a few salient points -

1.     What will the company do with your biometric data?

2.     How protected is your biometric data?

3.     Are you signing data security forms safeguarding your unique health, DNA and bio-metric data? Consider how millions of genetic records from 23&Me were hacked.  Who is the new owner of Ancestry Health? Consider the hacking of a USA hospital consortium’s medical records of millions of patients.    Consider how media outlets continue to ‘warn’ us to be ready for a cyberattack; it’s already happening.

4.     Trust the science.  Since when did science change so frequently?  Trust scientifically incorrect research published in major medical journals, such as Lancet, which later retracts the article?

5.     If you can’t trust the healthcare establishment to protect your personal genetics or biometrics or other sensitive medical records, how can you depend on them to make an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan that’s in YOUR best interest?

Who do you trust?  Yourself, of course.

Take back control of your mind and body, develop your intuition and discernment, listen to your body.  Ask your doctor questions even if the question seems simple.

You are responsible for your health.  Your body, your choice.
